An international organization warns of grave dangers to civilians in El Fasher.

October 28, 2025 (PEN) Plan International expressed its deep concern over the escalating fighting in El Fasher, North Darfur, warning of grave risks to civilians, especially children and women, who are facing “unimaginable” humanitarian conditions.

“Reports from the field indicate civilian casualties and forced displacement amid escalating fighting in El Fasher,” said Mohamed Kamal, the organization’s country director in Sudan, in a press statement issued today. He stressed that it is the duty of all armed parties to protect civilians and ensure safe access for humanitarian aid.

Kamal added that the suffering in El Fasher is appalling, as some residents have been forced to subsist on animal feed due to the lack of food, calling for safe passages and the delivery of aid without obstacles.

Kamal noted that the organization has expanded its response to provide food, emergency supplies, and psychosocial support to those displaced from El Fasher to the Tawila area, stressing that the window of opportunity to reach those trapped amid the violence is rapidly closing.
