The Journalists Syndicate mourns the death of photojournalist Mohamed Mahmoud Hashem.

May 10, 2025 (PEN) The Sudanese Journalists Syndicate mourned with deep sorrow and grief the death of photojournalist Mohamed Mahmoud Hashim, who passed away on Friday in Alexandria, Egypt, after a struggle with illness.

The union said in a statement that the deceased worked as a photojournalist for Al-Maidan newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Sudanese Communist Party, from 2007 to 2015, and then continued his career at the Ministry of Culture and Information until his retirement.

The union praised the deceased's life, describing him as a model of dedication, seriousness, and commitment, as well as his good character and pleasant manners. It noted that his passing represents a great loss to the Sudanese journalistic and media community.

The Syndicate offered its sincere condolences to the journalists, both male and female, photojournalists, the family of the deceased, his colleagues at Al-Mayadeen newspaper, his friends and students, and all those who knew his virtue and professionalism.
