Egyptian, US foreign ministers discuss ceasefire efforts in Sudan

July 30, 2024 (PEN) Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aty received a phone call from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday.

The official spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Abu Zeid, indicated that the call addressed the current efforts to address the crisis in Sudan. The discussion focused on the recent call for the two conflicting parties in Sudan to participate in ceasefire talks in Switzerland, with the aim of stopping the violence and allowing the delivery of humanitarian aid throughout Sudan.

Ambassador Abu Zeid added that both sides expressed their hope that these efforts would result in an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, which would allow relief and humanitarian aid to reach the Sudanese people.
