UNICEF: Escalating violence in Darfur threatens children's lives

April 23, 2025 (PEN) The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) confirmed that the deteriorating security situation in Darfur, particularly in the Zamzam and Abu Shouk camps, is forcibly displacing hundreds of thousands, hindering the delivery of vital humanitarian aid to those in need.

The organization explained that more than 15 million children in Sudan are in need of urgent aid, warning that millions of children are at risk of interrupting their malnutrition treatment.

UNICEF indicated that it is working to expand its support in the Tawila area, where it has provided life-saving nutrition services to approximately 30,000 children and operated 15 nutrition centers and mobile clinics to provide healthcare.
