Samrab is shaken by the case of a child that has stirred public opinion.

June 30, 2026 (PEN) The detectives of the Darushab police station in Bahri locality rescued a 3-year-old girl after she was subjected to torture, burning and imprisonment inside a bathroom in the Samrab area, at the hands of her aunt and her husband, according to the police.

The rescue operation came after a report from a citizen who witnessed the assault from her window. The investigation team moved immediately under a search warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, and was able to arrest the accused and find the child in a critical health condition.

According to the police, the child was transferred to the intensive care unit at the Military Hospital in Omdurman, and her condition remains unstable.

The investigation revealed that the child’s mother was divorced and worked in Omdurman, and that she was sending money to her sister to take care of her daughter, without knowing what the child was being subjected to.

The police began amending the reporting procedures under articles of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, and violation of legal obligation towards a disabled person, in preparation for completing the investigations and referring the accused to trial.
