Egypt calls for an urgent humanitarian truce in Sudan

April 18, 2026 (PEN) Egyptian Foreign Minister, Immigration and Expatriate Affairs Minister Badr Abdel-Aty discussed with his British counterpart, Yvette Cooper, the developments in Sudan, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum in Turkey.

Abdel-Aati stressed the importance of quickly reaching a humanitarian truce as a prelude to a comprehensive ceasefire, along with launching a comprehensive political process with purely Sudanese ownership.

He stressed the priority of delivering aid to the Sudanese people without obstacles, reviewing the efforts made by Egypt within the framework of the international quartet to deal with the crisis.
