Germany provides an additional 20 million euros to Sudan amid escalating humanitarian crisis.

April 15, 2026 (PEN) - The German Development Ministry announced on Wednesday that Berlin will provide an additional 20 million euros (about $23.6 million) to Sudan this year as part of its humanitarian support, with other funding pledges under consideration.

The ministry explained in a statement that it had provided approximately 155.4 million euros for projects in Sudan and neighboring countries affected by the war up to the end of 2025, noting that the new funding would increase the total aid provided.

This comes as the war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces marks three years since it began, resulting in the deaths of thousands of people, the displacement of millions, and widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure.
