Teachers in Kassala continue their strike for the fourth week

June 29, 2026 (PEN) The Sudanese Teachers Committee confirmed that teachers in Kassala State are continuing their strike for the fourth week, in a move that it said reflects their adherence to their legitimate demands and their refusal to compromise their professional dignity.

The Higher Strike Committee said in its report yesterday, Sunday, that the full response to the strike reflects teachers’ awareness of their rights and the increasing community solidarity with their cause.

The committee held the government fully responsible for the disruption of studies, pointing to what it described as its "deliberate disregard for the demands and the absence of any seriousness in finding a solution," which further complicates the crisis.

The committee concluded its report by emphasizing its appreciation for the teachers’ commitment and valuing the solidarity of parents and the community with the cause of education, reiterating that “there is no solution except by responding immediately to the teachers’ demands.”
