35 killed in drone strike targeting a court in North Darfur

August 3, 2026 (PEN) At least 35 people were killed and others injured on Sunday in a drone strike that targeted a local court in the village of Qoz al-Zawaya in North Darfur State, according to the Emergency Lawyers Group.

The group, which documents abuses related to the war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, said the strike occurred while civilians were gathered inside and around the court to resolve local disputes.

Emergency lawyers held the Sudanese armed forces responsible for the attack, noting that initial information indicated that the drone used in the bombing belonged to the army.

There was no immediate comment from the Sudanese Armed Forces regarding the accusations.
