Qatar expresses concern over escalating attacks on civilian facilities in Al-Abyad

June 28, 2026 (PEN) The State of Qatar expressed its deep concern on Saturday regarding the escalation of attacks on civilian facilities in the city of Al-Ubayyid, the capital of North Kordofan State, calling on all parties to exercise immediate restraint and avoid escalation that could have disastrous consequences for civilians.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed in a statement that ending the armed conflict permanently requires a comprehensive Sudanese dialogue that paves the way for addressing the humanitarian situation and launching negotiations leading to a sustainable peace agreement.

The ministry reiterated Doha’s firm position in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its rejection of any interference in its internal affairs.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry stressed its respect for the choices of the Sudanese people in freedom, peace, and justice.
