Qatar condemns attack on Khartoum airport and reiterates its support for Sudanese unity.

May 5, 2026 (PEN) The State of Qatar condemned a drone attack targeting a site in the Khartoum International Airport area, considering it a violation of Sudan’s sovereignty and a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Doha rejects the targeting of civilian and vital facilities, and affirms its support for the unity, sovereignty and stability of Sudan.

The ministry reiterated Qatar’s call for a resolution to the armed conflict in Sudan through dialogue and peaceful means, in order to achieve the aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace and development.

The Sudanese government announced on Monday that Khartoum airport was targeted by a drone, but there were no casualties. It later confirmed that air traffic had resumed. The Sudanese army also stated that it had intercepted drones targeting several locations in the capital.

Since April 15, 2023, Sudan has been experiencing a war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which has resulted in one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
