The government rejects its exclusion from the Berlin conference, and "Sumud" welcomes its convening.

April 12, 2026 (PEN) The Sudanese government, headed by Kamil Idris, officially announced its protest against not being invited to participate in the “Berlin Conference” scheduled for April 15, which is dedicated to discussing the humanitarian situation in the country, considering that the conference puts the state on equal footing with the “Rapid Support Forces”.

The government affirmed its commitment to a peaceful solution and its readiness to engage in regional efforts that respect Sudan’s sovereignty, stressing its rejection of any path that does not take this principle into account.

In contrast, Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported that about 40 Sudanese figures from the leadership of political and civil forces are expected to participate in the conference, including representatives of the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Sumud), along with parties, civil society organizations, resistance committees and emergency rooms, under international sponsorship that includes the African Union, the United Nations, the European Union, the League of Arab States and the IGAD organization.

For its part, the “Sumud” coalition welcomed the conference, announcing the participation of a delegation from it in its work in Berlin, with the aim of rallying international support for peace efforts and providing humanitarian aid.

Sources involved indicated that the discussions may include attempts to bridge the differences between civilian forces regarding a ceasefire, with a focus on securing additional funding to support humanitarian work in Sudan.
