Federal Health Ministry launches campaign to combat disease vectors in Al Qadarif State

May 10, 2026 (PEN) The Federal Minister of Health, Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, and the Governor of Al Qadarif, Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Hassan, launched an integrated campaign to combat disease vectors and comprehensive environmental sanitation, under the slogan "Together towards a state free of disease vectors."

The month-long campaign targets the fight against leishmaniasis, malaria, and dengue fever, and covers 12 localities in the state, with support from the Federal Ministry of Health and the state government.

The Federal Minister of Health said that the war has caused a halt to routine work and the emergence of epidemics, which necessitates intensifying efforts to limit their spread, describing the campaign as a pioneering model for environmental health that the rest of the states can benefit from.

For his part, the governor of Al-Qadarif called on citizens to cooperate and participate in making the campaign a success, stressing the readiness of the state government to support efforts to combat epidemics.

Al-Qadarif State experiences a seasonal increase in cases of vector-borne diseases, such as malaria, kala-azar and dengue fever, especially with the deterioration of health and service conditions as a result of the war and the cessation of routine programs.

Joint campaigns between the Federal Ministry of Health and state governments are a key mechanism for reducing outbreaks of epidemics in affected areas.
