The Sudanese Minister of Health affirms the commitment to continue providing health services.

May 25, 2026 (PEN) Sudanese Health Minister Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim affirmed the commitment to continue providing health services to citizens throughout the country, noting a gradual improvement in conditions and the return of a number of displaced people to their areas.

This came during the minister’s meeting yesterday, Sunday, with the head of the Africa and Middle East Department of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Ibrahim Faria, in Geneva.

Ibrahim explained that the improved security situation provides better opportunities for implementing health programs and contributes to reducing some of the operational costs that increased during the war.

On the other hand, the Sudanese Ministry of Health announced the registration of 45 new cases of dengue fever in the River Nile State, bringing the total number of infections to 8,374 cases, in addition to 15 deaths since the beginning of the outbreak.

In a related context, the minister stressed the government’s efforts to combat malaria, noting the launch of the national campaign to make Sudan free of the disease on April 20th.
