The Sudanese Teachers' Committee rejects the Cabinet's statements and calls for adherence to the strike.

June 3, 2026 (PEN) The Sudanese Teachers Committee rejected the statement issued by the Cabinet on June 2, 2026, regarding the formation of a national committee to address education issues, considering it an attempt to absorb anger and bypass the core of the crisis instead of solving it.

The committee said in a statement that discussing conferences, localizing school furniture, and nutrition are "important issues, but they are not the root of the crisis," stressing that the real problem lies in "the absence of political will and the inability to meet the minimum requirements for teachers."

The committee reiterated its commitment to the strike, demanding that the Cabinet respond immediately to its basic demands instead of forming new committees.

The committee's demands are to raise the minimum wage from 12,000 pounds to 216,000 pounds, to pay all outstanding financial arrears, and to commit to paying salaries before the fifth day of each month.

The committee stressed the need for the state to commit to spending on education as a basic right, to stop all punitive and coercive measures against teachers, and not to impose illegitimate union bodies on workers in the education sector.

The committee concluded its statement by emphasizing that the stability of education will not be achieved through conferences and statements, but rather by doing justice to the teacher immediately, as he is the foundation of any real educational renaissance.
