Turkey's AFAD provides 30,000 tents for displaced Sudanese

April 23, 2026 (PEN) Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced on Saturday that it has provided 30,000 shelter tents to displaced people in various parts of Sudan, to meet the needs of civilians affected by the ongoing internal conflict.

AFAD explained in a post on the X platform that the operation was carried out in coordination with the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations International Organization for Migration.

The statement added that the tents were shipped from the port of Mersin in southern Turkey to Port Sudan, where they were distributed and installed in the most affected areas, stressing that Turkey continues to provide humanitarian aid without discrimination, based on the values ​​of cooperation and solidarity, to include 84 countries in five continents.

According to Anadolu Agency, the fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which has been ongoing since April 2023, has caused the displacement of about 13 million people and the killing of tens of thousands.
