The United Nations calls for increased aid to Syria

August 23, 2023 (Anatolia) The United Nations said that the funds allocated for humanitarian aid sent to Syria are very low, and called for intensified efforts to increase aid to this country.

This came in the words of the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, at a session of the UN Security Council held, on Wednesday, to discuss the humanitarian situation in the Arab country.

Pedersen explained that the political process in Syria is "stumbling", and that it will not be possible for this country to improve its economic situation with the continuation of the conflict.

He stressed that with the continuation of the conflict, it will not be possible to solve the problems of the displaced, detainees, missing persons, kidnapped persons, human rights violations and terrorism.

Pedersen pointed out the importance of the United Nations and its partners continuing to deliver their aid across the border to the Syrians.
