Swiss police identify several victims of the Crans-Montana fire

Police stated that dozens were killed and about 100 people were injured in the incident (Eram).

January 4, 2026 (PEN) Swiss police announced the identification of 40 victims of the fire that broke out in the Crans-Montana mountain resort in southern Switzerland, noting that 24 victims of different nationalities, including a number of teenagers, have been identified so far, while 119 people were injured.

Police reported that investigations are still ongoing, while two people who ran the bar where the incident occurred are under investigation for manslaughter.

Swiss police stated that among the victims identified so far are 10 Swiss and two Italians, in addition to a person holding both Italian and Emirati citizenship, and one person each from Romania, France and Turkey, without announcing the names of the victims, while efforts continue to identify the remaining deceased.

Police explained that 10 of the bodies identified on Sunday belonged to teenagers aged between 16 and 18. The identified victims also included two Swiss men aged 20 and 31, as well as a 39-year-old French man.

Swiss police announced early Thursday, January 1, 2026, that dozens were killed and about 100 people were injured in an explosion inside a bar in the Crans-Montana ski resort during New Year's celebrations.
