Türkiye appreciates the efforts of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council to establish stability.

Türkiye confirmed it is following developments in southern Yemen with concern (RT)

January 4, 2026 (PEN) The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended the efforts of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council aimed at establishing stability in the country, stressing that it is following with concern the recent developments in the southern governorates of Yemen, according to a statement issued by it yesterday, Saturday.

The ministry stressed that these developments represent a threat to Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as their potential repercussions on the security of neighboring countries, considering the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council to restore stability important and necessary, while expressing its welcome for the call to hold a comprehensive conference in Riyadh and the Saudi support for this initiative.

In the same context, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called yesterday morning on all southern components in Yemen to participate in a conference it is hosting on its territory, with the aim of developing a comprehensive vision for just solutions to the southern issue, following a request submitted by the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, to host the conference.

The call came hours after the head of the Southern Transitional Council, Aidarus al-Zubaidi, announced, in a surprise move, the start of a two-year transitional phase that includes organizing a referendum to determine the fate of the "people of the South," a move that observers considered a prelude to entrenching the division and separating the South from the North.
