11 people were killed in a fire in a mining mine in Kazakhstan.

October 28, 2023 (pen) The Qatar News Agency said that a fire broke out today in a mining mine in central Kazakhstan, killing at least 11 people.

Adding that the local authorities stated in a press statement that a fire broke out in the Kostenko mine in the city of Karaganda, in which 11 people died, while 18 others were taken to the hospital after sustaining injuries of varying severity.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, immediately announced the end of cooperation with the giant ArcelorMittal mining group that owns the mine, accusing it of not respecting safety or environmental standards.
