The death of the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

September 23, 2025 (PEN) The Saudi Royal Court announced on Tuesday the death of His Eminence Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Sheikh, the Kingdom's Grand Mufti and Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars.

The statement explained that the funeral prayer for the deceased will be held after the afternoon prayer at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, while the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, directed that the funeral prayer in absentia be held for him at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, and all mosques in the Kingdom at the same time.
