Bahrain condemns Iranian attacks and announces the interception of missiles targeting it and Kuwait.

June 6, 2026 (PEN) Bahrain strongly condemned what it described as "blatant Iranian attacks" targeting the Kingdom and the State of Kuwait early Saturday morning, announcing the interception of Iranian missiles.

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that attacks were renewed on Bahrain and Kuwait at dawn today, considering this a violation of the sovereignty of the two countries and a breach of the United Nations Charter and Security Council Resolution No. 2817 of 2026, which condemned Iran’s attacks and attempts to close the Strait of Hormuz.

The ministry stressed that these attacks threaten the security of the Gulf and contradict the principles of Islam in rejecting aggression.

Bahrain called on the Islamic Republic of Iran to immediately cease its unjustified attacks, embrace peace, open the Strait of Hormuz without restrictions, disclose the locations of sea mines and cooperate in removing them, and allow the departure of more than 20,000 stranded sailors.

The ministry affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain adheres to the option of peace, and that defending its sovereignty and security is a "red line," stressing that it will take all legitimate measures to protect its security.

In Kuwait, the General Staff announced early Saturday morning that its air defenses had intercepted missile attacks and hostile drones.

The Presidency stated in a press release that any sounds of explosions heard were due to intercepting attacks, and called on citizens to adhere to the safety instructions issued by the competent authorities.
