Kuwait Airport resumes flights after temporary airspace closure

June 6, 2026 (PEN) Kuwait International Airport resumed flights at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, after a two-hour temporary closure of its airspace following Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting the country.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced the redirection of 11 flights belonging to Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways to Dammam and Riyadh airports during the closure period, before returning them to Kuwait after the danger had passed and the situation had been confirmed as stable.

The administration explained in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that it had activated the approved plans to deal with the emergency situation, in order to preserve the safety of passengers, crews and facilities.

She confirmed that the resumption of navigation was done in coordination with the relevant authorities, and in accordance with the highest security and safety standards.
