Reuters: Ships postpone passage through Strait of Hormuz despite ceasefire

April 10, 2026 (PEN) Reuters reported on Friday that ship tracking data showed that most of the vessels that crossed the Strait of Hormuz were linked to Iran, while other ships preferred to postpone their voyages despite the ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran.

The agency quoted sources in the shipping sector as saying that a state of caution still prevails in the region's sea lanes, prompting some companies to adjust their ship movement schedules.

According to an analysis of data from Kpler and List Intelligence, three oil tankers left Iranian waters in the past 24 hours.

This comes in the wake of the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, in an attempt to reduce tensions that have recently gripped the Middle East, which have directly impacted shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transit routes.
