The World Food Programme indicated that the situation in South Sudan is "critical and requires immediate intervention to save lives."

It called on its regional and international partners to get urgently involved to preserve the peace agreement.

The organization called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a restoration of calm in the affected areas.
