Intensive Turkish contacts to follow up on developments in the Tehran-Washington talks

April 26, 2026 (PEN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a series of intensive telephone calls regarding developments in the negotiations between Tehran and Washington, including with American negotiators, as well as his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi and Pakistani counterpart Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

Reuters and Anadolu quoted sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry as saying that the talks focused on assessing the progress made in the ongoing negotiations and reviewing the latest developments related to the dialogue between the two sides.

In this context, the Iranian Foreign Ministry explained that Araqchi briefed Fidan, during the call, on the latest developments in the ceasefire efforts and the endeavors to end the war, indicating the connection between regional issues and the nuclear negotiation process.

These contacts come within the framework of ongoing Turkish-Pakistani coordination aimed at supporting opportunities to reach understandings between Washington and Tehran, especially with regard to outstanding issues.
