The United Nations is holding an urgent discussion regarding Iranian attacks on Gulf states and Jordan.

United Nations Human Rights Council

March 24, 2026 (PEN) The UN Human Rights Council announced it will hold an urgent debate tomorrow, Wednesday, on the military aggression launched by Iran against Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Jordan since February 28, which targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure and resulted in loss of life.

The Council explained in a statement today that this discussion comes in response to an official request submitted by Bahrain on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Jordan on March 18, noting that the requesting countries intend to submit a draft resolution to the Council within the framework of the urgent discussion.

These developments come in the wake of a series of attacks launched by Iran since February 28 using ballistic missiles and drones, targeting vital civilian facilities and energy infrastructure in a number of Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jordan, resulting in civilian casualties and material damage.

These attacks have been met with widespread condemnation at both the regional and international levels, amid warnings of their serious repercussions on global energy security and the safety of international navigation, and their threat to the stability of the region and its vital interests.
