The academic and research focus of the Microland Drone Conference addresses a number of scientific and developmental paths, most notably:

• Updating and developing smart aviation studies curricula in universities to keep pace with the rapid developments in drone technologies.

• Simulation and training tools for virtual pilots and their role in building safe and effective skills without the need to use actual aircraft.
