Report: Food prices in East Africa affected by the conflict in Sudan

March 2, 2024 (PEN) The East African Famine Early Warning System Network said that prices of East African staples produced locally in Burundi, Somalia and Tanzania have fallen due to recent crop increases.

While she indicated the stability of prices in Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan, where they rose seasonally in some areas due to high demand and unrest related to the conflict in Sudan.

The network added that livestock prices remained stable or high in most East African markets due to improved body conditions, reduced supply, and improved security in northern Uganda.
