Morocco secured their place in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup after a thrilling 3-2 penalty shootout victory over the Netherlands, following a 1-1 draw in regular and extra time, in their match at the Estadio Monterrey in Mexico as part of the round of 32.

The match saw a goalless first half, before both teams traded goals in the second half, one each. Despite efforts from both sides in extra time, the score remained tied until penalties, which Morocco won 3-2.

Morocco qualified from the group stage with 7 points after a 1-1 draw with Brazil, a 1-0 win over Scotland, and a 4-2 victory over Haiti. They will face the winner of the South Africa vs. Canada match in the round of 16 on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
