Argentina qualified for the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup after defeating Switzerland 3-1 after extra time, in the quarter-final match held at Kansas City Stadium.

Argentina will meet England in the semi-finals.
Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring for Argentina in the 10th minute with a header from a corner kick taken by Lionel Messi.

Switzerland responded with an equalizer in the 68th minute through Dan Ndoye, after a pass from Rodriguez which he finished with a low shot from inside the area.

In the 70th minute, the referee showed the second yellow card and then the red card to Breel Embolo, the Swiss player, after consulting the video technology.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw after regulation time, before Julian Alvarez scored Argentina's second goal in the 112th minute with a shot from outside the penalty area that the goalkeeper could not stop.

Lautaro Martinez completed the scoring in the 120th minute after a counter-attack led by Almada, which rebounded off the goalkeeper and Martinez followed up into the net, scoring the third goal.
