England overcomes deficit against Congo and qualifies for the round of 16

England secured their place in the round of 16 of the World Cup after coming from behind to win 2-1 in a dramatic match against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday evening in the round of 32.

The Congolese national team surprised their English counterparts with an early goal scored by Bryan Sibinga, assisted by Chancel Mbemba, in the seventh minute.

The English team wasted a number of scoring opportunities during the first half, amid a clear brilliance from Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mbassi.

In the 42nd minute, Harry Kane appealed for a penalty after falling inside the penalty area following a collision with the Congo goalkeeper, but the referee ordered play to continue, and the first half ended with Congo leading 1-0.

In the second half, the English team intensified their attacking pressure and created two dangerous opportunities through Marcus Rashford and Jude Bellingham, but Mbappé continued to shine in protecting his goal.

Harry Kane succeeded in bringing the game back to square one, after scoring the equalizer in the 76th minute with a header from an Anthony Gordon assist.

Kane returned to snatch the winning goal in the 86th minute, again assisted by Gordon, to give England a ticket to the next round.

With this victory, the English national team will face their Mexican counterparts in the round of 16 of the tournament.
