The Matadors snatch the World Cup... Spain defeats Argentina 1-0 and is crowned world champion of 2026

The curtain fell on the 2026 World Cup with Spain winning their second world title in history, after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Argentina in extra time.

The final match, which took place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey in front of 80,663 spectators, lasted for a full 120 minutes before the Matadors managed to decide it with a goal in the first extra period, thus preventing the Tango from keeping the cup.

Spain reached the final after eliminating France 2-0, while Argentina qualified at the expense of England 2-1 with goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez.

With this victory, Spain joins the club of two-time world champions, alongside Argentina and France, and closes the curtain on an exceptional edition held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
