June 23, 2026 (PEN) Switzerland secured a valuable 2-1 victory over Canada on Wednesday evening at PC Place Stadium, in the third and final round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, with both teams qualifying for the round of 32.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, before Ruben Vargas opened the scoring for Switzerland in the 46th minute, early in the second half. Johan Manzembe doubled the lead in the 57th minute, and Kyle Larrain gave Canada hope by pulling a goal back in the 76th minute, but the Canadians' subsequent efforts proved fruitless.

With this victory, Switzerland raised its tally to 7 points at the top of the group, while Canada's tally remained at 4 points in second place, thus ensuring that both teams qualified together for the round of 32.
