Aboul Gheit warns of the repercussions of bombing Sudanese facilities and calls for commitment to the ceasefire.

May 5, 2025 (PEN) - Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned in the strongest terms the targeting of Sudanese state facilities in Port Sudan and Kassala by Rapid Support Forces marches yesterday.

Aboul Gheit considered the operation a dangerous escalation of the crisis, negatively impacting the flow of civilians and humanitarian aid throughout Sudan.

Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, stressed that the insistence on overthrowing Sudanese state institutions, facilities, and infrastructure not only affects Sudan's future, unity, and territorial integrity, but also strongly threatens regional peace and stability in the region and the Red Sea.

Rushdie called for full and immediate compliance with the ceasefire agreement signed in Jeddah and relevant Security Council resolutions.
