The African Union and IGAD discuss developments in Sudan.

June 11, 2025 (PEN) - IGAD Executive Secretary Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu and African Union Chairperson Mahmoud Ali discussed today in Addis Ababa enhancing cooperation among regional economic communities through the Joint Coordination Platform, as well as security developments in Sudan, South Sudan and Somalia.

Gebeyehu affirmed that the meeting addressed the conflict in Sudan and the security challenges in the region, noting that the two parties agreed to take joint practical measures to address these crises and enhance a coordinated regional response.
