Saudi Arabia condemns attacks on Zamzam and Abu Shouk camps

April 13, 2025 (PEN) The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom's strong condemnation and denunciation of the attacks that targeted the Zamzam and Abu Shouk camps for displaced persons near the city of El Fasher.

The ministry said the attacks resulted in the deaths and injuries of numerous civilians, including women and children, describing them as a "flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law."

The ministry affirmed the Kingdom's categorical rejection of these violations, emphasizing "the importance of immediately halting attacks and avoiding targeting civilians."

It also called for full compliance with the provisions of the Jeddah Declaration on the Protection of Civilians in Sudan, which was signed on May 11, 2023.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry stressed the "need to provide protection to humanitarian and relief workers" and ensure their safety while carrying out their duties in conflict zones, considering respect for international humanitarian law a shared responsibility among all parties.
