January 8, 2026 (PEN) Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, affirmed that Egypt will not accept the division of Sudan or the collapse of its state, stressing during his meeting with Kaya Callas, the High Representative of the European Union, on Thursday, Cairo’s categorical rejection of the establishment of any parallel entities within the Sudanese state.

Abdel-Aati asserted that the Sudanese Armed Forces cannot be equated with any other "militias," noting that the security and stability of Sudan is an integral part of the security and stability of Egypt, and emphasizing at the same time that the Egyptian state will not hesitate to defend its existential interests.

The minister briefed the European official on Egyptian efforts within the "Quadrilateral Mechanism" to push for a humanitarian truce that would pave the way for a comprehensive ceasefire, reiterating his condemnation of the massacres and grave violations committed against civilians in El Fasher and North Kordofan, while stressing the need to protect civilians and ensure unhindered access for aid.

The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the talks addressed ways to strengthen relations between Egypt and the European Union, in addition to reviewing the latest regional developments of common interest, while emphasizing the importance of preserving Sudan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
