Egypt affirms its support for initiatives to end the conflict and reach a comprehensive political solution in Sudan.

March 12, 2025 (PEN) - Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, received Annette Weber, the European Union's Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, on Tuesday. The meeting addressed developments in the region, most notably the crisis in Sudan.

The Minister welcomed the European Envoy's recent visit to Port Sudan and was keen to learn about her impressions of developments there. He emphasized the need for full respect for Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and for the preservation of the Sudanese state and its institutions.

Abdel-Ati stressed Egypt's support for international and regional initiatives aimed at ending the conflict and reaching a comprehensive political solution. He also highlighted Egypt's extensive coordination efforts with various international parties and representatives of Sudanese political forces to support settlement and ceasefire efforts, and to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people.
