Egypt and Saudi Arabia discuss developments in the Sudanese crisis.

January 4, 2026 (PEN) Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Cairo on Monday, where the two sides discussed ways to develop bilateral relations, as well as regional issues of common interest.

According to the statement, the two ministers stressed the importance of ongoing consultation and coordination between the two countries in order to strengthen bilateral relations and serve common interests, emphasizing the need to intensify cooperation to confront current regional challenges.

The meeting addressed developments in Sudan, with both sides stressing the importance of continuing coordination within the framework of the Quartet Mechanism to support regional and international issues related to the Sudanese crisis.
