Egypt and Russia discuss developments in Sudan and efforts to end the conflict.

December 6, 2025 (PEN) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty discussed regional developments in a phone call with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on Friday. The call addressed several political issues in the region, most notably the situations in the Gaza Strip, Sudan, Lebanon, and Syria.

According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Abdel-Aty reviewed during the call the efforts Egypt is making within the framework of the Quartet Mechanism to end the conflict in Sudan, stressing the importance of preserving the unity and integrity of the Sudanese state. He also affirmed the continuation of working with international partners to achieve stability in the region.
