1 January 2026 (PEN) His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom sent a message to the Sudanese people on the occasion of Independence Day, expressing his warm congratulations to the Sudanese people and his appreciation for the historic relations and enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between the United Kingdom and Sudan.

In his message, which he and his wife addressed, the King affirmed his support for the Sudanese people suffering from the effects of the ongoing conflict, noting that the humanitarian crisis is characterized by widespread needs and is exacerbated by the famine that has struck the country.

His Majesty noted the importance of solidarity and support in these circumstances, wishing the Sudanese people strength in their pursuit of peace and stability, and expressing his hope that these aspirations will, over time, contribute to strengthening ties between the United Kingdom and Sudan and rebuilding bridges of cooperation between the two countries.
