Qatar is exploring ways to enhance humanitarian and development cooperation with Britain and Canada.

May 20, 2026 (PEN) Qatari Minister of State for International Cooperation, Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, discussed with British Minister for International Development, Jenny Chapman, ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of humanitarian and development work, and to coordinate urgent support for the most needy areas.

Al-Musnad said in a post on the “X” platform that the meeting held in London addressed the coordination of Qatari-British efforts to direct urgent humanitarian and relief support, and to enhance joint programs in Gaza, Syria, Sudan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

She added that the intertwined crises the world is witnessing call for flexible and responsible partnerships, capable of moving quickly and achieving a sustainable impact that addresses human needs and preserves human dignity.

In the same context, Al-Misnad met with Canada’s Minister of State for International Development, Randeep Sarai, on the sidelines of the Global Partnerships Conference held in the British capital, London, according to the Qatar News Agency.

During the meeting, the cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to support and strengthen them were reviewed, coordination in the areas of humanitarian diplomacy and international development was discussed, and the economic effects of rising energy prices and their impact on the movement of exports and imports through the Strait of Hormuz were discussed.

The two sides also reviewed the coordination of medical efforts to support the Gaza Strip, joint development and cultural projects to rehabilitate historical sites and support craftsmen in Syria, in addition to supporting women in Sudan.
