French forces begin withdrawing from Niger in implementation of the decision of the military council

October 10, 2023 (pen) The first batch of French forces in Niger left for France, yesterday, Monday, under the guard of the Nigerien Armed Forces.

The French Army General Staff said in a statement: “This operation should allow all soldiers to return to France before the end of 2023.”

These steps came after France was obligated to implement the decision of the military council headed by General Niamey to withdraw its ambassador from Niger and for their forces, numbering 1,500, to leave their country.
