South African President: BRICS Summit to Discuss Crises in Ukraine, Sudan, and the Middle East

July 6, 2025 (PEN) South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, before heading to Brazil to participate in the BRICS summit, confirmed that the summit scheduled for Rio de Janeiro on July 6 and 7 will address geopolitical issues and global crises, including the situations in Ukraine, Sudan, and the Middle East, in addition to trade, health, artificial intelligence, and climate issues.

Ramaphosa said, according to the Russian news agency TASS, that the BRICS countries will strengthen their voice for peace and security, and call for an end to conflicts. He emphasized the group's desire to achieve peace between Russia and Ukraine, and between Israel and Iran, and to end the suffering of civilians as a result of wars and the destruction of infrastructure.
