Guterres welcomes Trump's announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.

June 24, 2025 (PEN) United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres warmly welcomed US President Donald Trump's announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, urging both countries to fully respect it.

"The fighting must stop. The people of both countries have already suffered too much. I sincerely hope that this ceasefire will be a model for other conflicts in the region," the Secretary-General said in a post on Twitter.
